A milestone achievement for the German Energiewende


Q1 2020 marks the first quarter in Germany’s history to produce more than 50% of its electricity demand from renewables.
The record numbers were said to be driven by high renewable curtailment, from wind and solar, along with overall energy consumption dip in march 2020 due to coronavirus pandemic.

Ollagüe is a little town of 200 persons located in the Andean Plateau in Chile at about 3700m above sea level. Access to energy is difficult given the technical and geographical issues in the area. ENEL Green Power, a daughter of ENEL, a big global player in the Energy business, lead a microgrid installation project to supply the town with energy with a local system mainly running on renewables.
